If reaching out to a hiring manager in the midst of a job search gives you the hives, AI might help you get the ball rolling. At least, that’s what LinkedIn is aiming for with a new AI message-writing tool being trialled.
In a rollout for “super” LinkedIn users that begins Tuesday, a “highly customized message draft to start a conversation” will be created by generative AI, information from your profile, job description of what you’re applying for and the company in question, according to a post Tuesday by Aura Levitt, director. Corporate Senior and Head of Core Growth and Premium. The post was previously reported by Engadget.
Noting the importance of appropriation, you should take the time to edit the draft to “make it your own and convey your voice,” Levitt said. The manager messaging tool follows LinkedIn’s announcement that it will use AI writing to boost your profile, according to the business and networking platform.
LinkedIn did not immediately respond to a request for additional comment.
