Google I/O is Google’s annual conference Developer conference, but this year it appears to have been completely hijacked by the company’s hardware manufacturing arm. According to a lot of recent rumors, the search giant will be using the occasion to finally announce a bunch of new devices, such as the Pixel Fold, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel 7a.
And now Google itself has confirmed that the Pixel Fold will be coming to this year’s I/O, which will be held on May 10th. The company posted the quick teaser which you can see below on its Twitter account, making it public for all to see.

There’s no point in leaking anymore, is there, when the maker itself shows its hand like this a week or so before the big reveal. Google followed a similar strategy of self-leakage last year as well, so this is nothing new of course. What’s new with foldable devices, especially nowadays, are those bulky top and bottom bezels on the inner display — we’re not sure what happened with them and why they’d be there. We’ve seen a lot of foldable devices and none of the latest ones have bezels as large as these.
Anyway, if you’re wondering about the size of the Pixel Fold, a bunch of leaks and rumors have already said it’s closer to Oppo’s Find N and Find N2 than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold4. It’s generally smaller, and when you open it up, the inner screen is in landscape mode.
The device is to be powered by Google’s own Tensor G2 SoC, weighs 283 grams, and may house a slightly larger battery than the Galaxy Z Fold4. Google’s first foldable device will retail for $1,799 in the US and will be available on June 27.
