Jumpscare Alert: There is currently a bug on Twitter where old blue check holders can update their resume and regain their badge of honor (dis).
It didn’t seem to matter to the text you add to your resume – I added a few spaces, then had the check ready for a moment. It even came up with the old text stating I’m “prominent in government, news, entertainment, or some other class,” and I didn’t, in fact, pay for it. But as soon as I refresh the page it goes away (which I’m grateful for, because I don’t want people to think I’m giving money to Elon Musk). In fact, it’s not clear if anyone else can see your check for a while (which, again, I’m grateful for, because I don’t want people to think I’m giving money to Elon Musk).

Twitter still maintains the icon that shows users whose heritage is verified, instead of a blue check. So, it is possible that this error is caused by a glitch involving those internal mappings. But we can’t know for sure, because if we email Twitter asking for feedback, they’ll just email us an emoji. Again, it seems that if you lay off the majority of your employees, your social platform will not be well coded.
