There is a lot of controversy about How does artificial intelligence fit into our workplaces?but Akash Nigam — CEO of web startup Genies 3 — apparently chose to spend more than $2,000 a month on ChatGPT Plus subscriptions for every employee in the company.
according to from the inside, Nigam spends at least $2,400 per month to ensure that all 120 employees of Genies have access to ChatGPT Plus according to the receipts obtained by the outlet. As Insider reports, Nigam began supporting a chatbot for its employees in every department, from finance to engineering to research and design, in March. The CEO believes that access to ChatGPT can help employees automate monotonous tasks as well as improve company profits. Nigam also claimed that he’s already seen business accelerate with the help of ChatGPT, even though his workforce has only been using AI for a month.
“I am a very frugal and stingy person,” Nigam told Insider. “But in my opinion, this is for the health and growth of the company.”
Genies and Nigam did not immediately respond to Gizmodo’s request for comment.
Nigam told Insider that the company’s R&D team, for example, uses ChatGPT for debugging. On the contrary, the tech giant Amazon previously warned its employees against sharing company code with ChatGPT For fear that it could be leaked and/or used to train future iterations of the chatbot. For Genies, ChatGPT seems to have been most helpful in creating an outline of company strategy, as the AI reduced hours of brainstorming, which Nigam told Insider could take “hours and hours.” While the entire company has access to the technology, Nigam said some employees passively integrate AI into their workflow.
While Nigam was paying $2,400 a month for OpenAI’s ChatGPT, some have found a clever (and free) solution. A European computer science student with the pseudonym Xtekky developed a GitHub repository called GPT4free It allows users to have unrestricted access to ChatGPT Plus by directing queries through websites such as You.com and Quora. But there is no such thing as a free lunch Toms HardwareOpenAI threatens Xtekky with a lawsuit if it doesn’t delete the project from GitHub.
Artificial intelligence like ChatGPT could have a place in our workplaces as another tool to help people complete tasks. New research from Stanford University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology finds just that 14% of employees who have used ChatGPT in their workflow have seen an increase in productivity– With less experienced and less skilled workers getting jobs done 35% faster. At the same time, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed earlier this month that the company won’t be releasing ChatGPT-5 anytime soon..
