A new leak from Chinese news outlet MyDrivers indicates that the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 mobile platform will bump its frequency to 3.7GHz (via GSMArena). Qualcomm’s single Cortex-X4 core is claimed to be responsible for the newly discovered performance boost.
The outlet also cited a prominent Weibo leaker, who indicated that the upcoming chip may be in line with some substantial internal changes. It seems that SD 8 Gen 3 is classified as an SM8650 model and may adopt a 1+5+2 internal architecture. Considering the design change, this means that the new chip can have 1 extra-large core, 5 large cores, and 2 small cores.
