How Do I Solve / Steve Hammerstoffer
TL; DR
- The new Google Pixel Fold leak has revealed more specifications.
- The foldable device is said to pack a 4,500mAh battery with charging speeds of 23W.
- This means we should expect charging speeds that are in the same ballpark as the Pixel 7 line.
The constant stream of Google Pixel Fold rumors has turned into a deluge of information, with specs leaks, a hands-on video, and more emerging in recent days. Now, a reliable leaker has revealed more specifications of the Pixel Fold.
Owned by tipster Yogesh Brar to publish Pixel Fold specs on Twitter, and most of those specs are in line with previous leaks. That means a Tensor G2 processor, 12GB of RAM, 256GB or 512GB of storage, a 7.6-inch QXGA+ 120Hz OLED display, and a 5.8-inch 120Hz+ resolution OLED. We’re not sure if the latest decision was a typo, as previous leaks already pointed to an FHD+ display.
However, the foldable phone is also expected to arrive with a triple rear camera system (48MP main, 10.8MP tele, 10.8MP ultrawide), an 8MP internal selfie camera, and a 9.5MP external selfie camera.
There is no change to the charging interface
We haven’t heard specific battery and charging numbers yet, but Brar confirms that the Pixel Fold will pack a 4,500mAh battery with 23W charging speeds.
It’s unclear if the 23W number refers to wired or wireless charging, or if the Pixel Fold will charge wirelessly. For what it’s worth, the Pixel 7 Pro offers wired speeds of 23W and 23W.
In any case, these numbers indicate that the Pixel Fold will be very slow to charge. Our own testing shows that the Pixel 7 (4,355mAh battery, 21W charging) and Pixel 7 Pro (5,000mAh battery, 23W charging) take 100 minutes or more to fully charge.
So it makes sense to see a similar shipping time for Google’s upcoming foldable. In comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 comes with a similarly sized battery, 25W wired speeds, and takes 85 minutes to fully charge.
