There’s a good reason Sriracha has amassed a loyal following over the years. The sauce is unique and remains a top pick among hot sauce lovers. It can be added to literally anything. While the Sriracha shortage continues, there are plenty of alternatives out there, which is good news for your taste buds.
To the dismay of fans, last year Sriracha producers announced A.J Supply shortage of this cult-favorite hot sauce, and limited stock seems likely in 2023, too. Huy Fong told CBS recently that the shortage is due to a particularly meager spring harvest of chilies used to make the Thai-inspired condiment.
Shares of Sriracha have depleted both on store shelves and on online retailers. While the world of hot and slightly sweet sauce-free seems like a bummer, there are some excellent alternatives to Sriracha to add to your pantry shelves to tide you over.

The best Sriracha alternatives to try this summer
Melinda
Melinda offers more than a dozen alternatives to Sriracha that every spice lover can purchase online. The closest thing to Sriracha is the delicious Thai Sweet Chili, but don’t sleep on the others, including honey habanero mustard and spicy black truffle sauce.
Fly Bjing
Fly by Jing also makes crunchy chili peppers that are excellent for topping sandwiches, ramen, stir fries, dipping dumplings and other dim sum favorites. This Sriracha variant features a harmony of sweet, spicy, and savory flavors, but with a little umami punch from the sesame oil, mushrooms, and fermented black beans.

David Chang and Momofuku make a delicious chili condiment. This version contains a healthy dose of sesame seeds and will keep your food seasoned enough until Sriracha is back in stock.

As you might expect, the popularity of sriracha has spawned some imitation creations. Bushwick Kitchen makes Gochujang Sriracha Weak Sauce. It’s made with most of the same ingredients as Hoy Fung sauce and seems to be available (for now).

Chili crisp isn’t an exact substitute for sriracha, but it has a lot of the same flavors: heat, sweet, and umami. Lao Gan Ma’s chili crisp is a cult-favorite condiment that can add some nice pop to your foods when Sriracha isn’t an option.
