Honor unveiled its flagship tablet, the Honor Pad V8 Pro, at the end of last year. The tablet features a 12.1-inch IMAX-enhanced 144Hz display and comes with a base price of CNY 2,600 for the 8/128GB unit. Now the company has unveiled a cheaper non-Pro tablet – CNY 1,900 for the 8/128GB tablet CNY 2,000 for the 8/256GB.

The new Honor Pad V8 is currently pre-ordering in China and buyers can reserve a place in line with a deposit of CNY 100, and those who pre-order will get a small discount of CNY 100. Without the discount, the base price changes to $275 / €250 / $22,500.
The non-professional model is smaller with an 11-inch screen, again IPS LCD with the same resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels. The refresh rate has been lowered slightly to 120Hz. The smaller screen is paired with a smaller 7,250mAh battery and 22.5W charging (versus 1050 and 35W on the Pro).
What’s more interesting is that this is the first device to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 8020 chipset. It’s a 6nm chip with four Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6GHz and four A55 cores at 2.0GHz, the GPU is Mali-G77 MC9. The chipset appears to be based on the Dimensity 1100. As already mentioned, the tablet has 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage, as well as a microSD slot.
This model launches with the older MagicUI 6.1, which is based on Android 12. Some other noteworthy features are Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.1. There are quad speakers on board with support for DTS:X Ultra (wired audio is handled by the USB-C port).
The board is 7.3 mm thick and weighs 485 grams. Like the Pro model, there is vegan leather on the back (currently available in brown and gray).
The Honor Pad V8 can optionally be paired with the Magic Pencil 3 or Magic Keyboard (or both).

It is not clear if Honor will make the Pad V8 available outside of China (the Pro model is not).
