Honkai: Star Rail is a gacha with some standard gacha mechanics. One example of this is making friends. You can add or remove friends in the game after a short starting set of story missions. We’ll show you how to add and remove friends in Honkai: Star Rail, as well as manage your friends.
We wrote this tutorial using the mobile version of the game. However, it should work the same for the PC and PlayStation versions of Honkai: Star Rail as well.

You can add friends in Honkai: Star Rail when you first visit the Astral Express after the events of the Space Station. Simply open the in-game phone menu and select File friend icon. You can add friends with a unique ID (obtained from the other player), or by befriending a stranger.

When can I add friends in Honkai: Star Rail?

Honkai: Star Rail does not allow you to add friends instantly. Without too many spoilers, you have to complete the events on the space station where you start the game before you unlock the friends list. It took me a few hours to get to this point, but I’m also one of those gamers who searches every nook and cranny for secrets.
Once you’re on the Astral Express, you’ll know you’re close. Just keep going until the friend list tutorial appears. It shouldn’t take long to get there.
How do I add friends in Honkay: Star Rail?

There are two ways to add friends in Honkai: Star Rail. We’ll go over both of them briefly.
Add a friend using UID
- Get your friend’s UID.
- Go to the in-game phone menu and select File friends icon.
- Select the icon on the left side with the plus symbol inside it.
- Use the search bar to search for your friend by their unique ID.
- Once you find it, send a friend request.
- You will become friends once your friend accepts your request.
Ask a friend to add you using your unique ID
- Open the in-game phone menu.
- The top of the list houses your unique identifier with a small clipboard icon.
- Just type or copy your unique ID and send it to your friend. The clipboard icon automatically copies the number for easy sharing.
- Wait for them to send a friend request.
- Open the in-game phone menu and tap friends icon.
- Tap the top icon on the left side, then tap friend request button.
- Accept your friend request.
Work on befriending a stranger
- Open the in-game phone menu and tap friends icon.
- Click on the bottom icon on the left side to open a file Work on befriending a stranger page.
- The game will give you a list of strangers.
- Click the icon on the right side of the profile cards to add them as friends.
Professional adviceAfter adding a friend, you can give them a nickname. Click on their profile picture to find the option to do so. Personally, I’ve used this to change my friends’ names in the game to their Discord names so I know who it is.
How do I remove friends?

So you want to remove a friend to save space or because they are inactive. These things happen. Here’s how to remove friends in Honkai: Star Rail.
- Open the in-game phone menu and select friends.
- Click on the top icon on the left side to see your friends list.
- Find the person you want to remove and tap their profile picture.
- When the menu pops up, select Remove a friend.
- When the prompt appears and asks if you are sure, tap Sure.
- Professional advice You can also use a file Add to ban list option. This will remove them as a friend and prevent them from seeing you in the game unless you unblock them. Even after unblocking, they will not appear in your friends list.
