Forget Star Wars Jedi: Survivor — hop into Jedi Knight II in VR for just $3.49

• This download is free, however, you will need to own a copy of Jedi Knight II to use it.

Looking to play a VR Star Wars game that’s a little better than games like Vader Immortal or Tales From the Galaxy’s Edge? Developer Team Beef has your back, and thanks to the Star Wars sale on Steam, you can pick up the classic Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast on Quest today for just $3.49 through May 4th.

As you might imagine, there’s a small caveat to this process: you’ll have to sideload Jedi Knight II into your quest to play it in VR. If you haven’t done so yet, here’s how to install SideQuest on your headphones (Opens in a new tab). This game runs entirely on Quest 2 (Opens in a new tab) Or Quest Pro, so you won’t need a computer to play it, but you will need one to set it up.

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast originally came out on PC in 2002 to rave reviews and amassed a large following. The third-person game uses id Tech 3 — the engine that powers Quake 3 — so it doesn’t look as cutting-edge as Jedi: Survivor, but it runs very well on Quest hardware and looks as good as some of the best Quest games. The VR version goes first-person and adds some VR-centric controls and UI, including full motion support – so you’re holding a gun or lightsaber just as you’d expect in VR – and you can interact with the environment by actually pressing buttons with your fingers instead of by clicking a button on your console. Even the weapon selection menu has been redesigned for virtual reality by Team Beef.

How to install Jedi Knight II on Quest

Once you have SideQuest installed on your headset, open it up and follow these steps to get the JKXR — which is a VR version of Jedi Knight II — installed on your Quest.

1. Open a file app drawer In Quest by pressing the home button on the right controller and clicking on the icon that looks like a grid of dots.

2. Filter apps to Unknown sources By selecting the dropdown menu at the top left of the app drawer.

3. Select Side goal from the list.

4. On SideQuest, tap Filter button at the top right. It looks like an inverted pyramid.

5. In the list, select gaming portsthen select Progressing.

6. Scroll down and select JKXR.

7. Select Download the app (Sideload).

8. Once it is installed, open the app drawer again and select JKXR Listed in unknown sources.

9. JKXR Scholarship So in writing to store Quest. JKXR will create the directories it needs and close them.

10. Take off your headset and head to your computer.

Now let’s bring the game

Once done, open Steam on your PC and purchase Jedi Knight II. Download the game and follow these steps to get it on your mission:

1. Communicate your mission for your computer via a USB cable.

2. In your task, select Allow To share access to files with your computer.

3. On your computer, open Steam, then right-click on the game in Steam and select properties.

4. Select local files in the list on the left.

5. Select browse Opens a file explorer window in the directory.

6. In File Explorer, open a file game data folder, then open a file a base Folder.

7. Highlight Asset 0.pk3, Asset 1.pk3, Asset 2.pk3, Asset 5.pk3, right-click and select copy.

8. In File Explorer, Mobility To Quest 2. It will be located under it this computer in the right menu.

9. Open a file jkxr folder, then JK2 folder, then file a base Folder.

10. paste The files you copied above to this directory.

11. Once done, unplug the task, then Launch the JKXR on your mission using the previous steps.
