We named it 2021 Galaxy Z Flip 3 “The first foldable device you might actually want to buy,” and Samsung has only improved it with Galaxy Z Flip 4. If you’ve got your hands on one of these foldable phones, you’ll want to protect it with the right case. You have a variety of options. Whether you’re looking for something rugged, stylish, or somewhere in between, we’ve rounded up the best Galaxy Z Flip 4 case options out there right now to help you find the best one for your needs.
A case can add a little extra security to such an expensive purchase, giving you more peace of mind that your device will be safe from scratches and other damage when it gets bumped. Case manufacturers made sure there were more options available than the Flip 4’s predecessor had – and The Galaxy Z Flip 3 had some amazing cases.
We’ve tried several Z Flip 4 case options and can vouch for their quality. As more new cases for the Z Flip 4 arrive, we’ll be testing these models and will update this list accordingly so you can find the best deals available.
Available in three color options, the Caseology Nano Pop has a soft-touch feel and offers decent protection with a raised camera ring. Its two-layer design in eye-catching decorative colors gives the case a little extra flair. Note that Caseology is a sub-brand of Spigen.
The Samsung Clear Ring Cover is the clear version of the Ring Cover. While it doesn’t have the same smooth finish nor quite the protection as this case, it’s slim and allows you to really show off your phone’s exterior. It’s normally $30, but we’ve already seen discounts on it.
Speck’s Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold, one of my favorites for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, returns for the Z Flip 4. Rated for 13-foot drop protection, the Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold is the most protective clear case I’ve tried, though no protection for hinges. It comes in a crystal clear version and one saturated with gloss. (Note that the image above is of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 but the version of the Z Flip 4 should be almost identical.)
The Samsung Silicone Ring Cover returns to the Galaxy Z Flip 4 with a few small design improvements. It’s protective, has a soft-touch finish that’s nice to the touch, and there’s a built-in ring that helps keep you from dropping the phone — and you can also clip the ring to a lanyard and wear the phone around your neck. Sadly, while I can prop the phone up with the ring on certain surfaces, I would have liked the case more if it really turned into a kickstand.

I didn’t like Otterbox’s Thin Flex case for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. It felt cheap and it was hard to get your phone out once it was on. But the new version of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 is much better and comes in transparent options, two of which have colored motifs (the coral color is seen in the image). Despite its two-piece design and no hinge protection, it now feels like a luxury case.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 Leather Flap Cover is an upgrade over last year’s leather cover for the Galaxy Flip 3, incorporating a flap to protect the hinges. It’s pricey, but it’s nice — and slim. Available in three color options (black, peach, and purple), the biggest knock against it is that it’s so pricey, but we’re already seeing discounts on it.
You can find a bunch of generic clear cases on Amazon for the Galaxy Z Flip 4, many of which cost less than $15. The Restone is interesting because although it’s technically a two-piece design without hinge protection (for the Z Flip 4’s hinge), it does feature its own hinge that keeps the two pieces together and helps prevent them from sliding off the phone. It also has a little extra corner protection. (I haven’t used this Restone case yet but I’ve used a Restone case on another phone and it worked just fine, especially for its low price).
All of these inexpensive clear cases say they have anti-yellowing protection (to keep your clear case from losing clarity), but I really don’t believe those anti-yellowing claims.
Urban Armor Gear has been making attractively designed cases for a variety of phone models and the Civilian series is one of the best hard cases for the Z Flip 4. It’s available in three colors – black, blue (blue) and olive – and offers hinge protection in a one-piece design. You need to use the adhesive on the inside of the case to prevent the case from sliding on the phone.
Spigen makes quite a few cases for the Galaxy Z Flip 4. As its name suggests, Tough Armor is rugged and offers the most protection in Spigen’s line. It’s also the only Spigen case that has an integrated hinge protective cover.
As far as protective cases are concerned, it is one of the best and is only missing a built-in kickstand. I also wish it came in more colours. Black is the only option at the moment. We expect to see lower prices on them in the coming weeks.
Spigen’s Air Skin case line, which includes a Crystal Clear version as well as other color options, is a slim case that offers basic protection. Maybe I like the colored versions instead of the plain ones, but a lot of people like to show off the color of their phones, especially if you pay extra for one of the “custom” colors. Note that you can save $5 on Amazon when you activate a file Instant coupon on the product page.
This has the same soft-touch finish as Samsung’s Ring case, but instead of a loop, it has a strap. Your hand goes under the strap (and behind the phone), allowing you to grab and hold your phone without wrapping your fingers around it. It’s basically a seatbelt. The strap also provides a little protection to the hinge when the phone is folded. In addition, you can attach the end of the belt to a rope or clip it to another belt (for example, to a bag or backpack).
Aside from having some benefits, the strap also seems designed to bring some attention to your phone. For better or worse, it does just that, so if you use this case, plan on getting people to ask you about your phone. It comes in two colors (white or black), but additional straps are sold separately if you want straps that better fit your personal style.
Otterbox only makes two cases for the Galaxy Z Flip 4: Thin Flex (see above) and this case, Symmetry Flex, which now offers hinge protection and is a top protective case for the Z Flip 4 (it comes in more color options for the Z Flip 4). It’s pricey, but we’ll see some discounts on it in the coming weeks.
Zagg has a new “eco-friendly” screen protector for the Z Flip 4’s outer screen that it says is biodegradable, a first for a screen protector. Along with the Zagg outer screen protector that the Galaxy Z Flip 3 makes, this is the smallest screen protector out there. However, they somehow cost about the same as the screen protectors they make for much larger screens.
Gear4’s Bridgetown case shares some similarities with Spigen’s Tough Armor case (see below). It’s also a tough case that only comes in black and has some nice hinge protection. The case looks similar to the Z Flip 3 but the new version is sleeker and the hinge guard has been improved. It is one of the best protective cases for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. I wish it was available in more colors or in a clear version.
Do Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases fit the Galaxy Z Flip 4?
Yes and no. The old Z Flip 3’s case may fit — and stay on — the Z Flip 4, but there are some small differences in design (and dimensions) that might make it a completely unsuitable fit. For example, the flashlight on the Zip Flip 4 is a slightly different location than the flashlight on the Z Flip 3 and may not be centered in the hole on the Z Flip 3 case. Also, the top microphone may be partially covered if you use a Z Flip case 3 with the Z Flip 4. You can try on the old case with your new phone to see how it fits (and maybe try to tweak it a bit), but there’s a good chance you might have to get an official Z Flip 4 case for that.
Do Galaxy Z Flip 4 covers protect the entire phone, including the hinge?
The majority of Galaxy Z Flip 3 cases came in two pieces. But with the Z Flip 4, we’re seeing more of a one-piece case that offers some protection to the hinges. If that’s something you’re looking for, many of these picks will protect the hinge.
Are there screen protectors for the Galaxy Z Flip 4?
As with the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Samsung does not sell – or allow anyone to sell – screen protectors for the main front screen of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. The Z Flip 4 uses a high-tech bendable screen equipped with Samsung’s pre-applied screen protector (some people They had problems peeling it off on the Z Flip 3 and simply removed it). You can find quite a few screen protectors for the mini external screen.
Do all Galaxy Z Flip 4 cases allow wireless charging?
Most but not all of the cases on this list allow you to wirelessly charge the Z Flip 4 with the case on. Those that feature a built-in kickstand, especially if they’re made of metal, may require you to remove the case to charge your phone wirelessly.
