Android 14 beta coming to Nothing Phone (1)

The next big Android upgrade is still not ready for primetime, but the first beta of Android 14 is already live for Pixel smartphones, which means we’re on the verge of a stable launch. We expect other Android manufacturers to eventually jump into the beta, but nothing will beat a lot of them by being among the first to offer the Android 14 beta.

Nothing in an email says “We are proud to announce that None will be one of the first Google Android Partners to offer beta access to Android 14.” “The Nothing product team will have early access to the new Android 14 Beta 1 upgrade to ensure seamless integration with Nothing OS for a seamless user experience.”

CEO Carl Pei also didn’t take anything to Twitter to express his excitement about the update.

Nothing has been able to detail exactly when we can expect the update. However, we can expect Google to talk more about Android 14 at Google I/O 2023 in May, where the company may release more information about additional partners for the beta program. With that in mind, any (1) Phone owners may not be just weeks away from an update.

This is notable because the company only released the stable Android 13 update in February, just months after the beta launch.

Android 14 Beta 1 for Pixel smartphones was built earlier this month, and a later 1.1 update was released recently earlier this week with a number of bug fixes. Based on the schedule, Android 14 Beta 2 will likely arrive in May, with a stable update expected later this year, most likely in August.

The Nothing Phone 1 is a unique phone, mainly because of its transparent design and Glyph light setup on the back. Unfortunately, US support is very limited, so beware if you’re planning on bumping one up in the US. However, the phone continues to improve with each new update and will be among the first to get the Android 14 beta.
